How to Use the Sessions Screen in OptimaScan
The Sessions screen is the central hub within the OptimaScan app where all of your imaging sessions are securely stored, tracked, and managed.
Rather than saving loose image files directly to your computer's local folders, OptimaScan automatically encrypts and organizes your scans inside this secure dashboard.
What is the Sessions Screen Used For?
- Tracking Scan Progress: Monitor the real-time processing status of your 3D models.
- Reviewing Images: Open completed sessions to view captured overview and dermoscopic images.
- Troubleshooting Scans: Instantly retry any 3D model reconstructions that failed during processing.
- Managing Storage: Delete duplicate or unwanted scan sessions to keep your database clean.
1. Accessing the Sessions Screen
You can access the Sessions screen in two different ways depending on your current workflow:
Option A: View All Sessions (From the Patients Dashboard)
If you want to see a master list of all recent scans across all patients:
- Open the OptimaScan app on your Mac.
- From the main Patients screen, look at the top-right corner of the window.
- Click the š Sessions button (located directly to the left of the circular Refresh and Settings gear icons).
Option B: View Sessions for a Specific Patient
If you only want to see scans associated with a single patient:

- Click the (>) icon on the far right of their row to open their profile.
- In the top navigation header of their profile page, click the Sessions button.
2. Understand Scan Status Badges
In the Sessions list, every scan row displays the Patient Name, Date & Time, and a color-coded Scan Status badge. Use the table below to understand what each status means:
| Status Badge | Icon & Color | Description |
| Generating 3D Model | š¦ Blue Outline | The system is currently compiling the captured photos into a 3D body map. |
| Waiting for 3D Model Generation | ā¢ā¢ā¢ Light Blue | The scan is queued and waiting for processing resources to become available. |
| Complete | Checkmark Green | The scan processed successfully and the 3D model is ready for clinical review. |
| Failed | Warning Triangle Red | An error occurred during image capture or processing. The 3D model could not be generated. |
| Ready to Scan | Empty Circle Grey | The patient profile is active, but no scan data has been captured yet. |
Step 3: View, Retry, or Delete a Session

- The image viewer will open, allowing you to review the overview images and individual dermoscopic files.
How to Retry a Failed 3D Model Reconstruction

- Locate the row marked with the red Failed badge.
- Hover your cursor over the row to reveal the action buttons on the right side.
- Click the Retry button. The app will attempt to rebuild the 3D model using the locally saved images.
