How Do I Refer A Patient Case?

DermEngine allows you to refer patient cases to colleagues in your network. There are two different ways you can send a case to another physician: Referring and Sharing.

When referring a patient's case, you are sending it with the intention of receiving a diagnosis from that physician. In contrast, sharing a patient's case is useful for providing another provider with useful information without expecting any action or consultation.

To learn how to Share a patient case to a colleague, click here. Within DermEngine, you have the option to refer a patients case to a colleague or to a clinic. To learn how, follow the steps below:

  1. Click the Patient List from the top menu bar, then select the patient you wish to refer.


  2. Click the +Clinical Diagnosis button. 
  3. To refer a case to a Provider, first slect whether it is an In-Office or Teleconsultation. Next, under the Action section, click Providers Tab, and select which physician you would like to refer the patient case to.


  4. If you wish to refer a case to a Clinic, under the Clinic Tab select which clinic you would like to refer the patient case to. 
  5. Note that including a diagnosis is optional. When ready, click Submit.
  6. The referral can be viewed in the patient profile history once complete.

  1. Tap the Patient option from the main menu.

  2. Select the patient you would like to refer to a colleague in your DermEngine network.

  3. Select the referral icon.
  4. Select the chief complaint and tap Next.

    Note: The doctors available to take your case depend on the skin conditions for which they have selected to provide teleconsultation services. If you cannot see the doctor in your network on the list in step 8, it's possible they are not accepting referrals for that specific skin condition.

  5. Tap on the 3D Body Map to place a spot and press Next.
  6. Add the Overview image by selecting the camera button.

    *Next, attach your dermoscope to take dermoscopic image (if required). The switch between camera layouts from Overview to Dermoscopic will happen automatically. Take your image by tapping on the camera button. 
  7. Select Next in the top right corner. 
  8. Select a provider or clinic you wish to refer to. To learn how to add a doctor to your referral network, click here.


  9. You may be prompted to fill out a questionnaire related to this specific spot. 
  10. Review your case and select Submit at the bottom of the screen.
  11. To submit another case, repeat these steps by selecting the refer icon.



Android
