How Do I Use The Flicker Tool?
The Flicker tool is a tool within DermEngine’s Lesion Matching feature. When prompted, it will overlay (superimpose) two comparison images and "flicker" between them to help identify changes to the patient's lesions over time. To learn how to use the Flicker tool follow the instructions below:
- Access your patient’s Total Body Photography profile and select the desired body part. (Learn how to access this point here).
- Select the images you want to compare and run the Flicker tool for.
- Click the Flicker button. The system will automatically enter in full-screen.
- DermEngine will overlay the two images and “flicker” between them to help you identify any changes that may have occurred.
- You can use the zoom scroll on the bottom to get a closer look of the lesion during Flicker mode. You can also scroll using your mouse.
- Select a lesion pair on the right sidebar to perform an action: Take Image, Map, Delete, No Change, Changed, and Confirm Match). You can also select a lesion directly from the image. Learn more about editing lesion matching results here.
- Once finished, click 'Stop Flicker' at the top. To exit full-screen mode, click the
icon on the right. You can also press 'Esc' on your keyboard.
- When you move your cursor to the top of the screen, an exit button will appear.

- If you've edited the matching lesion results, you can re-run the Flicker’s algorithms to take into account the new lesion(s) by clicking the
icon. (Note that if you added more than 10 lesions Flicker will automatically refresh).
- You can navigate to the next body part in your TBP template by clicking the navigation arrows at the top. The system will retain Flicker mode across the different body parts. Learn more about the navigation buttons for TBP here.
