Why Does 3D Model Generation Fail or Produce Missing Body Parts?

The issues you are seeing are most likely related to the subject wearing clothes during the scan. OptimaScan’s 3D reconstruction relies on finding enough reliable visual features across the images in order to stitch them together properly. Clothing, especially if it is smooth or uniform, can make this difficult and may result in:

  • failure to generate the 3D model, or
  • missing parts of the body in the reconstructed model.
This is expected in this type of test scenario and should not normally happen in real patient scans when the standard imaging protocol is followed.

We recommend repeating the test using the normal patient scanning setup. Repeating the scan using the recommended patient setup generally resolves the issue.
