How Do I Update My Database Settings On DermSync?

When the database server address or password changes you will need to set it up again. To complete this process, please follow the step-by-step instructions provided below:

  1. Right click on the DermSync’s icon in the bottom corner of your screen. Select "Settings", then "Setup database".

  2. Enter the new server’s address and password then click Login. The database window will stay open until you've entered the correct address and password.

The following are some common errors you might come across and their likely causes:

  • Database settings required
    • No settings or incomplete settings were entered
  • Cannot open database "Database name" requested by the login. The login failed.
    • Incorrect database name was entered
  • Login failed for user "username" 
    • Incorrect (or expired) username/password entered
  •  SQL Server does not exist or access denied
    • Incorrect server entered or database connection is not present
    • Check your database connection if you feel that all inputted information is correct.

  • Login timeout expired
    • Incorrect server entered
  • Specified SQL server not found
    • Incorrect server entered
  • Failed to locate host machine
    • Incorrect server entered
  • Check your database connection or ConnectionWrite
    • if information is being entered in all database settings fields but there is failure to connect to database still you will see this error. Check your database connection if you feel that all inputted information is correct.
    • Open “ODBC Data Sources Administrator” - It should be installed on your machine by default.
    • Add a new data source using the appropriate driver, and test the connection.
