How Can I Achieve The Best Imaging Quality?

The MoleScope II is designed to provide medical-grade imaging at an affordable price. In order to ensure the best imaging experience, it is highly recommended that the following criteria is met:

Proper Insert (for MoleScope II models A, A+, B, and B+)

Each MoleScope device comes with a special insert designed to work with your specific smartphone model to accommodate for the device's unique dimensions. In order to achieve the highest level of imaging quality, please ensure you are using the correct insert for your smartphone/tablet. To check your compatibility, please click here .

Proper Alignment (for MoleScope II model U)

Clean the back of your smartphone, tablet, or device case with the provided microfiber cloth to remove any smudges, dirt, or oil. Next, align the guide marks of the Attachment Plate with the center of the smartphone/tablet camera and gently push to secure the plate. If the adhesion is not adequate, you have the option of attaching the plate to your smartphone or tablet case that has a hard and smooth back. Avoid rubber, leather, and textured surfaces. If your smartphone has multiple camera lenses, align the attachment with the center of the main camera. Smartphone/Tablet Model

Due to the fact that MoleScope II is a mobile dermoscope, its level of imaging quality is highly dependent on the type of smartphone or tablet that is used. In order to ensure satisfactory imaging quality, it is highly recommended to use a smartphone or tablet that has a 12 MP or higher camera resolution. There are many different makes and models of smartphone and tablets available in the market and we recommend using the newest modelsto ensure optimized imaging quality.

Optical Cleanliness

Like any other optical imaging device, you need to make sure all the lenses and contact plates are clean and free of dust and dirt. Please use the provided microfiber cleaning cloth to clean your smartphone or tablet camera lens and Molescope II optical lens and contact plate prior each imaging sesion. Do Not use cleaning cloth to clean the interior parts of your MoleScope II device! To learn more on how to clean your device, please click here.

Imaging Focus

When using the DermEngine app with your MoleScope II device, please note that you must tap the screen to have the camera focus on the lesion. Additionally, if this issue is occurring during the use of non-contact imaging, the device should not be pushed on the lesion- just a gentle touch will provide optimized imaging.
