How Do I Add A Clinical Diagnosis?

GPs and dermatologists can update a patient's history, provide a diagnosis, or refer a case through the +Clinical Diagnosis option. To learn how create a clinical diagnosis for your patients in DermEngine, follow the instructions below:

  1. Click on the Patients button in the top menu bar, then select the patient you wish to provide a consultation for from the Patients List.

  2. Click the +Clinical Diagnosis button.

  3. Enter the Visit Type as Clinical Diagnosis (in-office consultation).

  4. Write a primary (and secondary if necessary) diagnosis based on your findings. You can select a preset condition from the drop-down menu, or type your own.

  5. You have the option to set and customize templates for each diagnosis option by going to the Template Settings. To learn more about how to use customized templates, click here.

  6. You can also refer this case to another doctor under Action. When ready, add your notes (required).

  7. Additionally, you have the option of setting a follow up date if needed. Set a follow up date if needed and add your notes (required). To learn how to add a colleague to your network, click here.

  8. Select Submit. A pop up will appear stating that once you have submitted a diagnosis it cannot be undone. Once you select Yes, a notification will appear stating that your diagnosis has been successfully submitted.

  9. The report can be viewed in the patient’s profile in the Spot Timeline. Click the Details button to view the report. Alternatively, the report can be reviewed under the patient’s Timeline. (To learn how to view a patient’s Timeline click here).

  10. If you would like to Print or save your report as a PDF, scroll to the bottom of your report and click the respective button.

  1. Select the Patients List.


  2. Select a Patient.


  3. Select the spot you wish to evaluate.


  4. Select the Diagnosis icon.


  5. If you click the magnifying glass, you have the option to zoom or annotate the image. When you are done, select Add Diagnosis.
  6. Select one of the following visit types: Tele-consult, In Office or Pathology.


  7. Type a primary diagnosis. You have the option of adding a secondary diagnosis if necessary.


  8. Choose a Recommendation:
    • To refer a case, tap Referral then choose a doctor from the drop-down menu
    • For Biopsy/Excision, choose an option from the drop-down menu
    • If you wish to require a follow-up you have the option of choosing dates ranging from 1 month to a year
  9. Add a note (required).


  10. Select Submit Diagnosis (a pop-up with Diagnosis Submitted should appear).

    As you type, a drop-down list of potential diagnoses will appear. You have the option of selecting one of the options or typing your own.

  8. Choose an Action type
    • To refer a case, tap Referral then choose a doctor from the drop-down menu
    • For Biopsy/Excision, choose an option from the drop-down menu
