How Do I Compare Two Total Body Images?

DermEngine makes it easy to compare total-body images. This article will teach you what tools are available and the features of total body photography in DermEngine.

  1. First, access your patient's total body photography profile. To learn how, you can follow this article.
  2. Press the 'Compare' button. The system will find another image of the same body part from a previous visit date. The visit dates become the starting points for image comparison.

  5. DermEngine's lesion matching algorithms will apply to the two images.

    1. You can use the lesion detection sliders to adjust the number of lesions you want the algorithm to identify. Learn how to use the lesion detection tools here.
    2. Review the lesion matching results on the right-hand side. Learn how to edit the lesion matching results here.
  6. There are new bulk actions that you can perform. Press CTRL (Windows/Linux) or CMD (Mac) to select multiple images on the right sidebar. You can also click multiple lesions directly on the image. Perform any of the three actions:

    1. Map Lesions: When you select a pair or bulk of lesions on the right, you can map it on the patient's Body Map.
    2. Send to Image: When you select a pair or bulk of lesions on the right, you can instantly take dermoscopic or overview images with your connected mobile device.
    3. Delete in Bulk: When you select multiple pairs of lesions on the right, you can delete them in bulk.
  7. Use the Flicker tool to superimpose two images on top of each other and see visible changes.

    1. Report a mismatch to advise of any poor matches, missing pairs, or inaccuracies.
    2. Enter full-screen to minimize distractions and only display the key elements.
    3. Navigate to the previous body part in the set TBP template.
    4. Navigate to the next body part in the set TBP template.
  8. To get a better look at a spot, you can use the paired slider or scroll with your mouse to get a magnified view of both images.
  9. Continue your total body photography workflow by using the navigation buttons on the top right of the screen. This moves you Forward and Backward to the next body part in the template. The system remembers the dates selected for comparison and automatically retrieves images for that body part from the most recent visit date using the 3-month rule.
